What is V LAB Studio, exactly?
The video studio for Claude: a paid plugin for Claude Desktop on Mac. Type /vstudio in a Claude chat and the studio opens next to it. You say what you want, pick a template or drop in your own clip, and the studio makes the video on your Mac. Unlike CapCut or Premiere, you don't edit by hand. Unlike AI video generators, there are no credits and no random results. It's something you install, not a website you log into.
How long does a video take?
Measured on our test Mac (M1 Pro, 16 GB): an 8-second video renders in about 12 to 17 seconds. A custom video adds about 2 to 5 minutes while the AI art director checks the preview frames. With Edit my video, a 74.5-second raw selfie clip was transcribed on the Mac in about 14 seconds and rendered in 9:16 in about 2.5 minutes. Your chat with Claude comes on top.
Do I need Claude? How much of my plan does it use?
Yes. V LAB Studio runs next to Claude Desktop for Mac, and you need a Claude account. Claude is the director: it plans the scenes, writes the words and checks the frames. We recommend a paid Claude plan (Pro, about $20/month, billed by Anthropic, not by us), because a video takes many steps and free-plan limits run out fast. How much it uses depends on the video: a template takes a few messages, a custom video takes more because Claude plans every scene and the art director reviews the frames. We haven't measured a fixed number of videos per plan, so we won't promise one. Quick edits in the studio window (format, text, colours, versions) and every render run on your Mac and don't use Claude at all.
Will it work on my Mac?
You need a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 13.3 or later, plus about 2 GB free and the internet on the first run, which downloads the render engine (about 1 GB). The on-device transcription behind Edit my video is built for Apple silicon on macOS 13.3 or later, so please don't pre-order on an Intel Mac or an older macOS. If your Mac turns out not to be supported, you get a full refund before delivery or within the 14 days after it. On Windows? Not yet, so please don't pre-order yet. Tell me when Windows is ready
Why not just use CapCut?
CapCut is a good editor, and if all you need is captions on clips you cut by hand, it may be enough. V LAB Studio is for what a timeline doesn't do from one sentence: motion-design videos built for you (3D products, kinetic type, launches, listings), your brand applied to every video, and changes you ask for in words instead of dragging clips. Plenty of creators will use both.
Can I edit videos I filmed myself? In which languages?
Yes, with Studio or Agency. Drop your raw clip into Edit my video: it cuts the pauses, adds word-by-word captions, zooms on the key words, and adds effects, music and sound effects from our own library. Speech is transcribed on your Mac with Whisper, an open-source speech model, and the language is detected automatically: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian and most widely spoken languages. If it mishears a name, tell Claude the right spelling and it fixes it.
Which edition should I pick?
Creator if you want to try it on your own channels: 10 essential templates and custom videos.
Studio if you post every day, talk to camera, want all 20 templates and your brand on everything. That's most creators and businesses, and with the Club it's also the cheapest first year.
Agency if you make videos for clients.

Everything you received while you were in it. Templates, sounds and 3D packs already in your studio stay unlocked. You just stop getting new ones.
What if a Claude Desktop update breaks it?
Compatibility updates are included for 12 months from delivery (from your order date if you buy on or after Oct 16, 2026), and fixing V LAB Studio when Claude Desktop changes is exactly what they're for. After 12 months, the version you own keeps working. If we offer further updates for a fee, buying them is optional, never automatic. We don't control Claude Desktop, so we can't promise every future change can be worked around. Details in the Licence.
What does it cost after I buy?
Nothing from us, unless you choose the Club. Your edition is one payment and keeps working: no credits, no per-video fees, unlimited renders on your Macs. The V LAB Club is optional: $50, $35 or $25 a month, depending on your edition. After the 12 months of included updates, we may offer further updates for a fee: optional, never automatic, and your version keeps working without them. Is this just another AI video generator?
No. Generators invent footage from a prompt. That's great for cinematic shots and unreliable for exact words and logos. V LAB Studio builds motion design. Your logo is your file, your text is typed and your colours are your codes, so nothing melts or morphs and your words come out exactly as you wrote them. Plenty of people use both.

Your own business, channels and ads: yes, on every edition. Making videos for paying clients needs Agency's client licence. Music and sound effects come from our own library, licensed for your videos. You need the rights to any logo, photo, footage or music you bring in.
Does my footage leave my Mac?
Rendering and caption transcription happen on your Mac, and we never receive your videos. What you type or attach in the chat goes to Claude, as in any Claude conversation, and so do the preview frames the studio shows Claude so it can check them. With Edit my video, your clip and its audio stay on your Mac, but the transcript (the words you said) and the clip's file path go to Claude so it can plan the edit. When Claude looks for an image you mentioned, it sees small thumbnails of your newest images in your screenshots folder, Desktop, Downloads and Pictures. Privacy policy
